Guam Visitors Bureau Announces Photo Contest for North American "Friends & Family"
(
PRLEAP.COM) TUMON BAY, Guam — The Guam Visitors Bureau has announced the "What’s Great About Guam" photo contest to convey the unique pleasures of a visit to Guam, the welcoming people and lush beauty of the island. The contest is part of the launch of a new Web site –
http://www.visitguam.org/comehome/ — created specifically for North American-based friends and family of people living on Guam. The site will offer a virtual meeting place for the mainland Chamorro/Guamanian community as well as details on Guam-related travel specials and event postings.
The winning photographer will receive a roundtrip for two (air travel only) to Guam compliments of Continental Airlines, traveling from Los Angeles International Airport to Guam. The winning entrant has a year from the date of the announcement to use the tickets, which are based on availability. Continental is the world’s sixth largest airline, based on passenger traffic. Guam is one of four hubs for Continental with 23 daily departures.
Three runner-up prize winners will also be named. Each will receive a fun gift basket, compliments of the Guam Visitors Bureau and various island merchants.
The deadline for entering the contest is June 1, 2006. Prize winners will be selected by June 15, 2006. There is no cost to enter the contest.
All of the winning photographs and many of the contest entries will be featured on the new Web site.
In the contest entries, the GVB is looking for scenic shots taken by contest entrants on past visits to Guam. Extra points will be given for images that include a Guam landmark (such as a special beach or fishing hole, scenic overlook or historical site.) All photos submitted should include as much description as possible about where and when the photograph was taken.
The photographs will be judged by a independent group of travel connoisseurs from North America and Guam. All submissions will become the royalty-free property of the Guam Visitors Bureau for use in marketing materials and on the GVB Web site, and will not be returned. The decision of the judges will be final.
