Pink Elephant Selected for ITIL® Refresh Project

March 30, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
Reading UK—Pink Elephant today announced that two of its IT Service Management experts have been chosen to author the next version of the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), widely regarded as the most credible framework for IT service management in the world today. George Spalding and Gary Case will exclusively write Continual Service Improvement—one of five volumes being prepared for ITIL version 3. The new set of best practice books are due to be published in late 2006.

The Pink Elephant experts join a select list of just 10 worldwide authorities chosen to work on the ITIL refresh project. The Office of Government and Commerce (OGC), the UK-based government agency which owns ITIL, and works with public sector organisations to help them improve their efficiency, is overseeing the project.

"The OGC expects to refresh ITIL every three to five years, to ensure it remains fit for purpose and reflects the needs of our users, especially in the UK public sector," says Jim Clinch, ITIL Products Manager at OGC

Spalding and Case from Pink Elephant have both led and managed extensive IT service improvement initiatives in global companies and entities over the past 20 years. They were selected in an open competition conducted by OGC's publishing partner The Stationary Office (TSO).

Pink Elephant has been involved in ITIL since its inception in the late 1980s, co-authoring some of the earliest ITIL books, and has helped steer ITIL development to become today's globally established framework.

"We're proud to once again be involved in shaping the future of ITIL, as it expands on and elaborates its core concepts of Service Support and Service Delivery," says Alan McCarthy, director of Pink Elephant EMEA. "More than ever, ITIL is proving its relevance to today's business processes and cycles. This latest version of ITIL will provide the guidance leading organisations need, on how to support effective ITIL in the workplace."
