The Baker Boys of Martinsville, Indiana to be Featured at April 15th SHS Bluegrass Jamboree ’06 in Dalton, GA
(PRLEAP.COM) The Baker Boys of Martinsville, Indiana will be among the featured bands at the second annual Southeast High School Bluegrass Jamboree in Dalton, GA. Brothers Jessie (banjo & vocals) and Taylor Baker (mandolin, fiddle, & vocals) along with Anna Baker (guitar & vocals), David Jewell (guitar & vocals), and Joe Spicer (upright bass & vocals) will share their hard driving traditional sound. The Baker Boys have made quite an impression wherever they have appeared, surprising audiences with a veteran sound for two so young.
Both Taylor (13) and Jessie (15) have their share of awards from regional bluegrass competitions. Walking away with Best in Show and Best Instrumentalists in 2004 at the EMS Talent Show, First Place at the Morgan County Fair, they were also among the semi-finalists in McDonalds and Sears “It’s Showtime at the Apollo Kids Talent Search.” Both boys have too many awards for picking competitions to even begin to list and released their first recording project in October of 2005. Taylor will also be a part of a new Frank Wakefield CD project being released this summer.
This year’s Jamboree will focus primarily on presenting bluegrass bands that feature talented youngsters. The event will be composed mainly of bluegrass performed by talented teens. So far the roster includes: The Lovell Sisters Band of Calhoun, GA; The Barker Brothers from Copperhill, TN; Browngrass of Gainesboro, TN; and Garrett Arb and the Grassy Mountain Boys of Dalton. There will also be veteran bands appearing, including Peach Tree Station of the greater Atlanta area, Autumn Harvest of Dalton, and Spatial Effects from NW GA.
