DATELINE: BRAINTREE, MA… South Shore Elder Services of Braintree and Elder Care Network Southeast invite caregivers to a free inspirational presentation “Caregiving: How to Cope, Care and Create a Good Life”, which will be held on Thursday, May 11th from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Taunton (exit 9 off Route 495). A continental breakfast will be served.

Guest speaker, Rev. Dr. Kathleen Rusnak will address the emotional, psychological, and spiritual challenges that caregivers face in balancing their own needs and those of their loved ones. Dr. Rusnak is an ordained Lutheran minister with a Ph.D. in Psychology and Religion. She is a thought provoking, humorous and dynamic speaker on issues concerning spiritual care at the end of life; the relationship between loss, grief and faith, as well as, the stresses and needs of caregivers.

“Research indicates that caregivers are more likely to have stress related physical problems than others in their age group. They need to learn to take care of themselves,” explained Donna Ciappina, Caregiver Specialist at South Shore Elder Services, Inc. “This presentation by Dr. Rusnak will offer caregivers insight which will surprise, touch, and inspire them to find a new understanding of their caregiving role and new ways to address stress in their lives.”

CEU’s are available to nurses and social workers for a processing fee of $10.
