Hollywood CA. Explore Talent Announces NBC is launching a new series called America’s Got Talent which will have singers, dancers, magicians, comedic performers and unique novelty acts performing for a million dollar cash prize. The show will be executive produced by Simon Cowell, a judge on American Idol and Ken Warwick, one of the show’s directors.

“You can be 2 years old, 100 years old. You can be the next Destiny’s Child, you can be the next Jackson 5 or you can be the next David Copperfield,” Cowell said. “This is a show literally open to anybody.”

Open casting calls have already started in Los Angeles to find unknown talents across the country. In addition to L.A., the casting team will also visit New York, Chicago, and Atlanta. For those interested, go to www.nbc.com and click on “casting.”

A-List celebrities are expected to be judges on the show but nothing’s been finalized as of yet. Winners of the $1 million cash prize will be decided upon by the votes of American viewers.

Simon Cowell is an English record company executive who began his reality show experience with the British, Pop Idol, and then later moved on to become the judge of the surprisingly popular, American Idol.

Although he won’t be a judge on America’s Got Talent, he promises the audition judging will be “brutal.” He also stated that the new reality show will be a different type of show than Idol but will never compete directly with the Fox ratings winner.
