Author/CPA Warns Business Owners of Ticking Economic Time Bomb—and How to Disarm

Someone once quipped, "Ignorance is bliss!" And how true that statement is—until the bliss turns into brimstone.

There are many successful business owners out there who got to where they are by pure determination and hard work. Author and CPA Grover Rutter knows that as well as anyone.

After his wife and he sold their successful CPA practice, they began working to help other business owners sell their businesses, too.

"That's when we began to discover REAL business problems that people were encountering—and these business owners were totally unaware of their real problems until they were ready to sell their businesses…and then it was too late to fix a lot of things," Rutter mused. "Six out of ten business owners are not able to sell their businesses for what they had hoped. And, of those six, probably three can't sell their business at all!"

Some really sad situations have been encounted by the Rutter Business Brokerage firm. "People in their 30's and 40's fall ill with some dreadful ailment—and need to sell their businesses…only to find them to be unsalable. Worse, retirement minded individuals who have owned businesses for 30, 40 and even 50 years call and want to talk about selling the business. But what we often find are enterprises that haven't been properly maintained for sale. The sad fact is, most business owners don't know what makes their businesses valuable—or not valuable. And that not knowing is costing a lot of hard working owners a fortune!"

In his seminars and talks to Rotary Clubs and Chambers of Commerce, Rutter has been preaching a new type of business gospel. It's not the old story about "cash flow" but rather, a new gospel of business liquidity.

"There are dozens of simple things every business owner can do to increase the liquidity value of the business," Rutter explains. "But most people don't have a clue about what to do—or how easy these things are to do. That's what I have to offer."

Rutter says he would like to talk to every business owner in North America. But he realized that wasn't possible. That lead him to write his newest book, "How to Sell Your Business for the MOST Money(Secrets to Unlocking the Treasures Hidden in Your Business).
