Palm Beach Imperials Announce First Cut and Exhibition Squad
(PRLEAP.COM) West Palm Beach, Florida, April 13, 2006 — Today, the Palm Beach Imperials (www.palmbeachimperials.com) announced the players that made the team’s first cut and will participate on their exhibition squad for the summer.
The team was selected today by Head Coach and General Manager, Lamont Carr.
“Selecting the team was a tough task. We had so many quality guys that came to the tryouts. But what made everything so tough was how well all of the guys gelled, the team chemistry is something that you don’t want to disturb,” stated Carr.
Leading the squad were two familiar hometown phenoms, Lamar Moore, who played for Matt Doherty at Florida Atlantic University (FAU), and Calvin Jenkins who was a standout at Nova Southeastern University.
“It’s truly an honor just to even tryout for a first-class coach like Coach Carr, and a first-class organization like the Palm Beach Imperials,” stated new Power Forward/Center Calvin Jenkins.
Also on the squad were Serge Benda (Tamarac, FL), Jefferson Guillame (Miami, FL), Chris Black (Pompano Beach, FL), Joseph Gunter (Sanford, FL), Charlie St. Charles (Miami, FL), and fan-favorite 5’5” Ernie Pazos from Coconut Creek, FL.
Although the Imperials have setup an eight man squad, they will still consider free agents on the market, as well as will hold another tryout during the summer.
“I think that we have a good group of guys that can play as a team. We’ve seen from other professional teams that teamwork and chemistry are more important than flash and ego. The Palm Beach Imperials will be a team in every sense of the word,” asserted Carr.
The Palm Beach Imperials have already garnered international attention and several leagues and professional teams from Mexico to the Bahamas have expressed interest in playing exhibition games this summer.
