Baxa Corporation Wins National Design Awards From Graphic Design USA Magazine

Englewood, Colo.— The Baxa Corporation Graphic Design team was awarded two American Inhouse Design Awards from Graphic Design USA for their creative work on a recent direct mail campaign (‘right equipment’) and a national customer promotion (‘real pharmacy’). Graphic Design USA – a national magazine for design professionals – has sponsored design competitions for four decades. Their Inhouse Design Awards provide recognition by the creative community and corporate and institutional management for outstanding work by in-house designers. The 2006 winners were chosen from nearly 3,500 submissions, less than 20% of which received awards.

“We’re delighted to be chosen among the best of the in-house work,” reflected Eric Brettillo, Baxa Creative Director on the awards. “Our success usually is measured in terms of customer response. Earning the recognition of design colleagues is a great endorsement of our efforts.” Eric manages the three-person team responsible for Baxa Corporation’s creative services.

The award-winning right equipment direct mail campaign was a humorous reminder that using the right equipment can make a big difference in performance. This three-part mailing showed improper sports equipment in action, for example a fly swatter being used to play tennis instead of a tennis racquet. The idea was to show customers that only with the right (Baxa) equipment can they ensure proper patient care and safety, as well as compliance with regulatory standards.

The second winning campaign served two purposes. The Baxa team wanted a creative way to solicit customer testimonials about Baxa products, and participating in the promotion got customers excited about demonstrating a day in the life of their pharmacy using Baxa equipment. The Graphic Design team pulled out all the creative stops, developing a “RealPharmacy Photo Contest” promoted through a fold-out poster with a metallic finish. Participants demonstrated their own unique style in photographing and documenting their pharmacy activities. The successful campaign provided a rich resource of customer feedback and photographs that will be mined for future promotions.
