Secret Codes, Hidden Puzzles, and a $225,000 Treasure Hunt

WASHINGTON, DC - Secret codes, hidden puzzles, elusive treasure, the stuff of best-selling fiction, right? For one company from Washington, DC the adventure has started leaving the pages. The company is called ScrollQuest.com, and while the stories they publish are fictional, what’s hidden in their pages are very real. Clues to over $225,000 in hidden treasure.

"It's a modern day treasure hunt. Where your intellect and our imagination are the only keys to finding the treasure" says Author and ScrollQuest creator Jason King.

Every few months, ScrollQuest.com releases a new “scroll”. Inside the “scroll” you will find a fantastic story, amazing illustrations, and if you’re lucky the encoded directions to a treasure coin hidden somewhere in the continental United States. Find one of these coins and you can redeem it with the folks at ScrollQuest.com for your piece of over $225,000 in REAL treasure. Golden idols, bejeweled voodoo dolls, precious amulets, all beautifully handcrafted, and all up for grabs by solving the secrets contained within each “scroll”. And that might not be as hard as you would think.

"Anyone can solve these clues. You just have to pay attention to detail." says King. The treasure coins are hidden on public property and not hidden in any place dangerous. “They’re just sitting out there, patiently waiting for you to find them.”

Jason King created this world of fantasy and adventure along with close friend and illustrator Evan Jensen. When asked the motivating factors behind designing ScrollQuest the pair had this to say “We wanted to create a treasure hunt that was accessible to everyone. One that gets people off the couch and engaged in active thinking. Historically, treasure has been a great motivator."

Currently there are two active hunts “The Guardian’s Amulet” and “The Gris-Gris Doll” with a third hunt “The Idol of Xi” releasing in June. With each “scroll” retailing for around $5, Jason and Evan’s plan of making the quest accessible to everyone seems to have been met. The scrolls are currently available for purchase from ScrollQuest.com, Amazon.com, Borders.com, and several independent booksellers.

"Everyone played pirates as a kid or pretended they were Indiana Jones in search of lost treasure. We hope that ScrollQuest can get a lot of us back in touch with that imagination. Let's just have some fun."
