Salt Lake City, UT — U.S. Lieutenant Colonel Abe Conn, along
with the men and women of the 930th Army Liaison Team, couldn't
help but notice the harsh conditions many Afghan women and
children are living in.

"Many women here in Afghanistan have come from abusive situations
and are in a nearby shelter. We also have a large number of
orphaned children. These families don't even have basic blankets
and the kids have no toys," Conn said.

Conn and his unit recently launched a campaign to raise 1,000
blankets and soccer balls to go directly to the women and
children impacted by war.

So far word of the effort has spread strictly through word of
mouth, with some blankets and balls already starting to come in.
"We've got several more months to reach our goal, so we're asking
everyone to help get the word out," Conn said.

One twin sized blanket and one soccer ball can be purchased at
most discount retail outlets for under $15.00. Shipping can be
done through the US Postal Service to Colonel Conn’s APO address
for standard US rates. FEDEX and UPS do NOT ship to APO
addresses. Colonel Conn’s address is:

"We encourage businesses, service and charity organizations,
houses of worship, and individuals throughout America to unite
resources in support of this labor of love for the women and
children of Afghanistan. Let's show Colonel Conn what America
can do!" said Patrick Shaw, CEO of Hollywood Film Investors of
Provo, UT. He and humanitarian PR expert Tony Marren have taken
a personal interest in the project and are working to spread the
word in the United States.
