Online Modeling Portfolios: The Wave of the Future?

Hollywood (May 7, 2006) - In the past, a model needed to promote herself by making a comp card of her work and handing it out to anybody and everybody. This process was not only time consuming, but more importantly, expensive. Even modeling agencies who had the budget to send out comp cards to all potential clients, had to make certain restrictions because of budgetary constraints.

With more and more business being conducted over the Internet these days, this time-honored way of doing things is starting to change. Many of the biggest modeling agencies in the country like Ford www.fordmodels.com and Elite www.elitemodel.com have all switched to marketing their models online to prospective clients.

For those hopefuls which don’t yet have an agent, the next best thing is putting up their profile on a site that agents and clients scan for fresh faces on a weekly basis. One such site is Explore Talent www.exploretalent.com, an 11-year old company that specializes in promoting actors and models.

Members of the site upload photos of themselves along with a resume so talent agents can see what they look like and what kind of modeling experience they’ve had. Once a match is made, an email is sent to the talent for them to set up a “go-see” and meet the agency or client.

Says model Deana Aburto, “I just landed a job with Miller Lite…I am promoting approximately 10 hrs a week and making around $400 weekly…this has not been the first job I have landed with your web site.”

Explore Talent has over 500 talent managers and nearly 6000 photographers browsing the site on a regular basis and the site is expected to grow even more in the coming years.
