Insurance agent Lester J. Robinson III, associate with Northwood Corporation, Williamsville, is the latest “Charlie” Public Relations award recipient, presented by the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New York, Inc. Robinson was recognized for his involvement in promoting IIABNY’s local affiliate, the Independent Insurance Agents Association of Western New York and its 150 members. Robinson accepted the award during a luncheon on the second day of IIABNY’s Annual Business Meeting held May 4-5 at The Roosevelt Hotel in New York City.
Through print, television and Websites, Robinson continually presents metropolitan Buffalo and Western New York with an in-depth look at independent insurance agents and local insurance companies, their many contributions to the community, and portraying them as a well-established business group in the region. He accomplishes this task through Lockport’s LCTV Channel 20 his TV show “The ABC’s of Insurance” and www.wnyinsurance-quote.com, as well as other media.

Robinson helped in arranging the spotlight for the Erie County Sheriffs Department’s introduction of the Sheriffs Telling Our Parents and Promoting Educated Drivers, or STOPPED program, a voluntary parental notification program. Parents, after registering their vehicles with the sheriff department through the STOPPED program, are informed of traffic infractions or improper driving behavior by drivers under 21-years-old. A joint IIABNY—IIAAWNY grant of $2,000 was presented on May 1 to Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard for administrative costs in establishing the program.
The Charlie Award is presented annually by IIABNY in recognition of an individual or group who has contributed to the public’s image of independent insurance agents and brokers through a variety of activities.
