Florist Sees New Source of Revenue Bloom Through Barter

It didn’t take Paula Davis, owner of Rosemark Florist in Eastlake, OH, long to see the benefits barter would bring to her business when she decided to join ATX The Barter Company in 2001. Davis quickly realized the value of having an additional revenue stream available to take care of business expenses, and from time-to-time tap into her trade account for a few personal luxuries.

"We are a cash-poor business, so it really made sense to barter," Davis said. "We are able to grow our account through new customers so that when we have a business expense to take care of we can do so on trade."

Davis uses her trade account to pay for such business items as cooler repair service, heating and air conditioning service, and vehicle repairs and lettering.

"My sister and I don’t take any money out of the business for ourselves, so we use our trade account to buy things for ourselves, such as hair salon services, tanning, and limos," Davis said.

Davis is also pleased with the stable of new customers ATX has directed to her during the past five years. "Not only do I have a steady stream of regular barter customers, but I have also made many new friends. I’m very happy with my decision to barter."

"Paula has provided terrific service to our clients and is another example of a business that has been well-served through barter," said ATX President Tom McDowell, who founded his company in 1982. "Rosemark has effectively made use of barter in its business plan, and as a result has more spending flexibility and an established base of new customers."
