Kaplan Companies Names New President of Residential Group

HIGHLAND PARK, N.J. - Jay Franklin, who joined Kaplan Companies as a 29-year-old purchasing agent in 1985 and worked his way up the ranks, has been promoted to President of the Residential Group, overseeing all aspects of home construction and sales.

"I have devoted a good portion of my life to learning the Kaplan system and now am ready to take the next step," said Franklin , 50, of Toms River . "I appreciate this opportunity, while recognizing the challenges that lie ahead in the current real estate market. I feel well-prepared and eager to begin this next chapter with Kaplan Companies."

Franklin, who served as vice president of construction since 2004, has overseen all facets of construction and budgeting. In his new role, Franklin will also be responsible for the companys sales and marketing divisions, as well as other areas of the company that involve residential development.

Franklin is replacing Larry Falcon, who is retiring from Kaplan Companies at the end of June. Falcon has worked at Kaplan Companies since 1984. Most of his tenure was spent overseeing residential development.

Jason Kaplan, president of Kaplan Companies, said he launched a nationwide search to find Falcons replacement. He sought an industry professional who has Falcons experience, market knowledge and similar ability to excel at the challenging, multi-faceted position.

"At the end of the day, we realized that Jay is the perfect person for this job," Kaplan said. "He has an exceptional understanding of all aspects of this company. He is well organized and has demonstrated his dedication and commitment to this company and to building a quality product."

Franklin and his wife, Pam, have two daughters, Taylor and Jaelyn.
