Google Trends - Century Computing view
(
PRLEAP.COM) Following the annual fanfare yesterday, Google have among other services, released Google Trends (
http://www.google.co.uk/trends). This new service allows you, the casual user, to see the general trend of searches for specific key phrases by year, country, city and language. For those of you with interests in marketing or PR this could prove particularly useful – especially as it’s free.
Imagine you want to find out how well your product is known in the market place compared with the same type of product from your competitors. A simple search with the following phrases coke, coca cola, cola, pepsi produces a very interesting graph. (
http://www.centurycomputing.co.uk/News/Latest/Google_Trends_-_Century_reaction/news.aspx?id=187) This shows that the phrase “coke” is still searched for more than “pepsi” and the place in the UK that most of the coke searches came from over the last two and a half years, was Liverpool. How do your product names fair against those of your competitors?
Rob Green, Managing Director of computer support company Century Computing commented “Businesses both large and small will no doubt find this free tool very useful. Finally anyone can generate albeit basic management information, surrounding their key products, brand names and popularity of competitors; for free thanks to Google.”
