These creatures, had not entered the thoughts of Antony Wilton for many years, but he was soon to suffer a rude awakening.

His daughter came home from school with a note from her teacher which was notification of an infestation of those annoying lice on her scalp.

"Why her" he thought "Her hair is always scrupulously clean."

This started his research on those nasty nits.

He was relieved to find that head lice seemed to like a clean head as their residence just as much as a dirty one, and although they may make your head feel itchy, they do not usually cause illness. Their main damage appeared to be embarrassment and discomfort, and they do not clear up without treatment.

He dismissed home remedies such as smothering the head with olive oil or mayonnaise, and the laborious process of combing,which seemed similar to a Chimpanzee preening its partner,

After checking the insecticidal head lice treatments which contained strong chemicals like malathion, phenothrin,carbaryl and permethrin, he was horrified when he came across a report from the French scientific research group, INSERM stating that
the chemicals contained in some head lice shampoos could be factors in an increased risk of childhood leukaemia.

That was enough for Antony. He continued his own research and decided to formulate a head lice treatment based on natural plant products. The most effective results came from a
combination of Tea Tree Oil, Citronella Oil, lavender Oil and
Neem Oil.

He was aware of the properties of the Tea Tree (Melaleuca), and Lavender oil from his horticultural experience in Australia.
Neem oil from the fruits and seeds of Neem had been used for preparing cosmetics and was highly regarded since ancient times for variety of therapeutic purposes including treating skin diseases, and as an insect repellant.
