Voices for Hope Deadline Extended to May 31st!

(PRLEAP.COM) Hartford, CT – Voices for Hope has officially announced an extension to its deadline for vocal contestant submissions until May 31st. Responses thus far have come from all over the state as well as from Massachusetts and New Jersey. By extending the deadline, the campaign hopes to give even more teens an opportunity to win the chance to perform live on stage at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts while helping to raise awareness and funds that will go to benefit the Connecticut homeless.

Voices for Hope is a public education and fundraising campaign, utilizing the national tour of the Broadway show Brooklyn The Musical in collaboration with The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts. This inspirational music contest invites teens aged 12-18 to submit acapella recordings to be judged on both talent and passion by music industry professionals. Fifteen finalists will be offered the opportunity to audition live at The Bushnell on June 3rd. Eight winners will then be selected to perform a song from the show, “Heart Behind These Hands,” at the curtain call of one of the eight performances during the show’s run in Hartford, June 20-25, 2006. The eight winners and two alternates will also be considered for the opportunity to record a song at the Connecticut Songwriting Academy on a compilation CD to be distributed internationally. Proceeds from this CD will benefit Connecticut social service programs. For complete details and entry form please visit www.brooklynthemusical.com/voicesforhope.htm.

Voices for Hope is being administered by two Connecticut non-profit organizations, New Generation and LUNCH (Local United Network to Combat Hunger). A tax-deductible $50 entry fee will aid and benefit New Generation and LUNCH, as well as other similar minded Connecticut programs that help to end hunger and homelessness. Major pro bono support is offered by Maestro1 Enterprises, the authors of Dinner at Six, Skye Communication LLC, and the Connecticut Songwriting Academy.
