SOLANA MEDSPAS’ BUSINESS MODEL
SPELLS SUCCESS FOR MEDSPA OWNERS

(IRVINE, Calif., May 24, 2006) — The Solana MedSpas’ network is leading
the industry through profits while many competitors are struggling with
their bottom line, according to Solana MedSpas’ CEO and co-founder John
Buckingham. Irvine, Calif.-based Solana MedSpas is the nation’s foremost
medical spa developer, with a growing network of locally branded facilities
and entrepreneurs across North America.
“The Solana MedSpas’ network has greatly expanded, with 24 facilities
open to date and 12 more slated to open within the next 90 days, for a
total of 52 medspas projected to be open by end of year 2006,” Buckingham
notes. “We have also signed three new master development agreements with
clients who have purchased multiple medspa locations up front. In response
to this outstanding growth, Solana MedSpas has staffed up with new
personnel, all of whom are leaders in their field of expertise.
“Individual client success is at the core of Solana MedSpas’ vision,”
Buckingham says. “In the highly competitive world of medical aesthetics,
market leadership is hugely defined by a medspa’s ability to attract a loyal
customer base, which translates to a continuous source of cash revenue,
quality referrals and glowing testimonials.
“Entrepreneurial flexibility is a key selling point which clearly
distinguishes Solana MedSpas from franchise organizations,” Buckingham
continues. “Our client / owners benefit from our vigorous network strength
and focus on the success of individual owners as a rallying point, versus
franchisors, whose model is basically a cookie cutter operation with the
focus on one brand and the aggregate growth of the entire network,”
Buckingham explains.
“Solana MedSpas has identified the major factors for medspa success and
we have incorporated this invaluable information into a comprehensive
training program for medspa owners, consisting of an intensive initial
program, followed by ongoing training. The training program provides
information for the entire staff which will profoundly influence the
medspa’s profitability, covering everything from selecting a high traffic
retail location to hiring and training outstanding staff, leasing the right
equipment, and allocating and budgeting enough for a solid, results-oriented
marketing plan.
“The single most important factor for a medspa is compliance with state
regulatory laws,” Buckingham cautions, noting that Solana Medspas provides
the industry's only model for a legally compliant, competitive, and
forward-thinking business in all 50 states. On the fiscal side, Solana
MedSpas offers excellent financing packages through third party vendors,”
Buckingham says. “Solana MedSpas works with our client / owners to achieve
a 9 - 12 month break even, however, some have achieved very rapid
profitability, proving that our formula works.”
Indeed, Lori Ann Taylor, owner of Bellevie MedSpa in Lexington, Ky.
reports, “We made our numbers right away. We broke even in month two and
began making money in month three. Although the revenues are still up and
down, the general direction is up. We attribute much of our success to
following Solana's advice on product selection, equipment and comprehensive
retail merchandising training. We had a good feeling about which retail
location was going to work, but it helped to have Solana's confirmation.
Solana's marketing and graphic design is phenomenal. We took their ads and
invested in billboard advertising prior to opening, which is one of the main
reasons for our initial success. Now we are working with Solana on our
community based marketing and feel that it will definitely make a difference
with our continued success.”
Taylor’s comments are echoed by Matthew Werner, M.D., medical director
and owner, in partnership with his wife Edith Gonzalez Werner, M.D., of La
Quinta Medspa Skin Rejuvenation Clinic in La Quinta, Calif. “We bettered
our projections starting the first month, broke even our second month and
have been profitable since the third month,” Werner states. “We feel that
Solana was helpful in setting up a great menu of services which
differentiated us from the competition. The branding they created for us was
top notch. My brother, who has been in marketing for 20 years, was really
impressed with the look they created for our logo / brand.”
Many of Solana MedSpas’ clients researched medspa franchisors before
committing to Solana. Brian K. Sidella, president of Forever Young MedSpa
in Cooper City, Fla. relates, "After a year long process of traveling coast
to coast in search of how to best open a medspa, we chose Solana. They
offered us everything a franchise could offer without the complications of
franchise rules, which do not allow a true entrepreneur to run his business..
We broke even in our fourth month of operation. We believe that our
marketing campaign, which is built around a focused community based approach
encouraged by Solana, along with our most important asset, the Forever Young
MedSpa team, are the chief reasons for our success.”
