Father Dave says, "if we are going to deal effectively with terrorism, we need to understand it first."

Over three nights - May 26 to 28 - Father Dave of Holy Trinity in Dulwich Hill is going to screen a movie that no one else in Sydney seems to have the guts to show - 'Paradise Now'.

‘Paradise Now’ is a movie about idealism, mateship, and suicide bombing. It has been nominated for an Academy Award this year and was winner of last year’s Amnesty International Film Prize at the Berlin Film Festival, yet none of the Sydney cinemas seem to want to touch it!

Father Dave says, "This is a movie that needs to be seen by every Australian. Many people in our community live in fear of suicide bombers and other forms of 'terror attack', but if we are really going to address this issue, we need to take the time to understand why things like this happen.”

“Terrorism is a terrible scourge worldwide, yet giving rise to these desperate acts of violence there are often very real grievances that need to be addressed if the problem is to be solved. What I'm hoping to accomplish by screening this movie is to help people see both sides of this tragedy.

“Every complex problem always has a simple answer, and it's always the wrong answer. If we are going to make an effective and meaningful response to terrorism, we need to grasp the full picture.”

'Paradise Now' will screen in the Holy Trinity Church building in Dulwich Hill over three nights - Friday 26th to Sunday 28th May, beginning at 7.00pm each night, with coffee afterwards. Dave is asking for a paper-note donation to help cover costs.
