Pacific Continental Securities’ innovative Film Opportunities Fund finds unique investment opportunities though EIS

May 26, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Pacific Continental Securities (UK) ltd, a leading UK investment house, has announced details of its Film Opportunities Fund which taps into the power of the Enterprise Investment Schemes (EIS). The Film Fund provides ‘gap financing’ for films in the post production stage that are less than eighteen months from completion and require an injection of money.

Since the Inland Revenue announced the removal of significant tax incentives for the film industry, the EIS is now seen as the new way for films to raise money and attract investors into the industry. Each film production is set up as a company in which investors subscribe for shares and are entitled to certain tax incentives that are also applicable to this scheme. Between £500 and £200,000 may be invested and any losses can be offset against the investor’s capital gains or income in the year they sell out.

Peter Phelan, fund manager at Pacific Continental Securities (UK) ltd, commented:
‘Gap finance is highly favorable to investors; a maximum loan period is set and the fund has senior debt status for repayment. It is a relatively low risk investment with strict penalties for late repayment. With a favorable risk return profile these funds are looking more attractive to investors’.

The Film Opportunities Fund PLC is managed by Pacific Continental Securities Management (IOM) Limited. For further information, contact Pacific Continental Funds Management Division on +44 20 7769 7769.
