California based Coastal Vacations Director Dean Marino is alarmed by the high failure rate of new associates trying to begin working the traditional business model. Marino knows it does not have to be that way. He champions a hybrid business model in which associates get the maximum support needed for success.

Marino's business model has seen a much higher success rate when compared with not only the traditional Coastal Vacations business model, but others in the home based business arena as well.

Marino says there are several reasons for the failure with traditional systems. Many new associates have never owned their own business before and they don't understand all that is involved.

Others are sweet talked into thinking they do not have to learn sales techniques to have success, and later learn that they don't make a dime if they don't ask for the sale and the money.

Some simply don't realize the importance of support. They get started with someone who seems like a nice guy or offers some kind of deal or free goodie and later discover they don't have anyone who can show them the path to success.

Interestingly enough, some join with someone who promised support only to find out that support means buying more and more stuff from the sponsor.

Most new associates have not owned a successful business before and when they join Coastal to work the business that is exactly what they are doing.

The difference is, they don't have any employees yet, so they will need to wear all the hats that make up all the positions in a company. Since most have not done this before that means lots of new skill sets to learn.

They are the marketer, presenter, follow up expert and closer. They will need to learn time management to keep things organized as well as order product and then train their new members to do all that stuff too.

One skill set, in particular, causes huge problems. Most new associates don't know how to sell and they don't really want to learn how to sell because they were sweet talked into this by someone who told them selling was not what they would have to do.

They focus on specialized knowledge members can put to use and the staff at the Sales Center handles many of the details so the members don't have to do it all themselves.

Marino explained that most new traditional associates don't explore all the options they have. They tend to jump into business with the first person that contacted them about it, or with someone who offered them what they thought was a deal.

Most who don't compare believe Coastal is Coastal. They don't realize that the person and system they choose will greatly help or hinder their chances for advancement with the business.

Because of Marino's high profile in the Coastal Vacations program, he hears from associates struggling with the traditional business model every day.

Some explain that they would have joined with his maximum support system, but their sponsor did offer it as an option. Marino explained; "I would not expect anyone selling a competing system to tell you all the good stuff about the competition. Potential members have to take on the responsibility of doing their own research. They can't rely on a salesperson to give them an unbiased opinion when he is trying to sell them on his own program."
