Bradford computer specialist pioneers ‘texting’ to innovate customer service

8th June 2006 – A forward-looking computer specialist from Bradford is making pioneering use of ‘texting’ as part of Click and Collect, a new service that revolutionises customer service by enabling people to order products through the Web and then collect them from the company’s Tong showroom within the hour.

By using CCL Computers’ Click and Collect ordering service, people can say exactly when they want to pick up their products. Not only can customers collect their order within an hour, but they also receive a ‘text’ the instant the order is ready at the collection desk.

The move makes online shopping straightforward and convenient, and recognises that some people who use the Web to order products might want to collect the goods themselves so that they can have them in their hands faster than would otherwise be possible using delivery services.

“We have all been frustrated by driving to retailers to buy products only to find that they are not in stock, or that the order isn’t ready for collection,” said CCL Computers’ managing director, Adrian Wood. “Nearly everyone carries a mobile phone, and we will send a text message to reassure our customers that their orders are ready.

“Furthermore, since we keep thousands of products in stock, our customers are usually able to pick up their goods inside one hour of placing their order with us. Today’s consumers want their goods quickly and cheaply. We believe that we fulfil this common need better than anyone else in the marketplace.”

CCL Computers, which also offers next day guaranteed delivery for most products, provides computers, peripherals and a variety of electronics to businesses, private consumers and the education sector at competitive prices and with strong after sales support, including free technical help.

This year the company celebrates its tenth anniversary. Since its inception, CCL Computers has sustained year-on-year growth and now employs more than 80 people at its Tong showroom. The company’s Web site, www.cclonline.com receives more than 200,000 visits a month.
