**PHOTO/VIDEO OPPORTUNITY** Fifth Annual Ride to the Sky Motorcycle Event on Mt. Washington Auto Road
(PRLEAP.COM) Pinkham Notch, NH –The Mt. Washington Auto Road hosts the 5th Annual Ride to the Sky, June 12th and the 15th, presented by Meredith Harley Davidson/Buell in celebration of the Laconia Motorcycle Week. Ride to the Sky is a two day event when the Auto Road closes to cars, only permitting motorcycles to travel the road to the top of 6,288 ft. Mt. Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast.
On Thursday, the Mt. Washington Auto Road is working with the local Harley Owners Group (HOG), Mt. Washington Valley Chapter #8166, to enhance this special event to include the annual fundraising cookout held by the Harley Owners Group. Proceeds from fundraiser will be used to support local charities.
Thousands of bikes have made the 8-mile journey, receiving a version of the famous Auto Road bumper sticker - that reads “This Bike Climbed Mt. Washington” at the summit. Hours for Ride to the Sky are 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, weather permitting. This year a rain date has been set for Friday, June 16th and will only be used if weather forces the Road to close to bikes on June 15th.
The only other vehicles allowed on the Auto Road on June 12th and 15th will be Mt. Washington Auto Road Stages. The drivers share the history and lore of the Auto Road during the 30-minute trip. Guided tours will be available for riders who would rather leave their bikes at the base and for those who can’t take their cars up the Auto Road that day. The cost for motorcycle and operator is $12; each additional adult is $7. Guided tours are $26 for adults, $11 children 5-12 years of age. Seniors 62+ and military rates are $22.
First opened in 1861 as the Mt. Washington Carriage Road, the Mt. Washington Auto Road is located on Rt. 16 in Pinkham Notch, New Hampshire, eight miles south of Gorham, New Hampshire.
