PRLEAP.COM) Before 1999 there were less than 25 blogs online and most of the “bloggers” knew and linked to each other. Now it is estimated that there are over 50 million blogs in cyber space and rather like the universe their numbers are expanding and expanding.
Blogs are online collections of news items, opinions and articles which are updated regularly and readers can post comments about. Unlike websites, blogs are incredibly easy to set up and maintain thanks to a number of free programmes that do not require any technical knowledge.
In the US, the popularity of blogs has been growing at a phenomenal rate. This was accelerated by the increased awareness of blogging during the most recent presidential campaign.
According to CBS News, 27% of online adults in the States read a blog at some point at this time.
The UK has been perceived to be lagging well behind the US in terms blog popularity. However a recent survey carried out by internet marketing agency, SEMS Consultancy shows that their popularity is high here as well.
