ALAMO, CA - Capitalizing on continuing growth in the City of Antioch and the surrounding region, Transcan Development, LLC has announced plans to develop County Crossings, a 1,000,000-square-foot regional retail center situated on 200 acres at the northwest quadrant of Highways 4 and 160.

Located on one of the largest remaining developable sites in the Bay Area, which offers prime freeway-frontage, County Crossings will serve the needs of this rapidly growing region and workforce. “We will build County Crossings to be the cornerstone of the region; a place where people can gather, shop, dine and enjoy themselves day or evening,” says Bob Bahen, president and CEO of Transcan Development, LLC of Alamo, Calif.

“We have been working closely with the City of Antioch for the last nine months and are moving forward on a development plan. They have been absolutely great to work with and we are excited to provide the region with well recognized major retailers. This also means new jobs for the community and sales tax revenue for the City. Everyone benefits,” Bahen notes. The project is expected to draw residents from Pittsburg, Antioch, Oakley and Brentwood.

Transcan Development’s plans include grading the property so that retailers can enjoy unobstructed freeway visibility. The new Highway 4 bypass/interchange, which is currently under construction, will offer County Crossings’ retailers high identity and exposure. “County Crossings will provide retailers with outstanding freeway visibility, strong demographics, continued residential growth, an abundant and affordable work force, and a City that is very supportive of new business and development; all very attractive attributes for expansion-minded retailers,” says Bahen.

Jim McMasters and Ed Del Beccaro of Colliers International in Walnut Creek are the marketing and leasing agents for County Crossings. “Our marketing efforts have already produced strong tenant interest from several large format, national retailers,” says McMasters.

“The site for County Crossings is the optimal location at the highly-trafficked junction of Highways 4 and 160 and will provide retailers with five critical ingress/egress points via 18th Street, Oakley Road, Hillcrest Avenue, Phillips Lane and Slatten Ranch Road,” McMasters notes.

The shopping center, which is currently in the entitlement phase, is estimated to break ground in 2006 and open mid to late 2007.
