Carlton Hotel, South Beach: Designed for Fun

July 10, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Travel News
The Carlton Hotel, South Beach represents one of the final chapters in the story of South Beach's transformation from a Deco ghetto to world class resort destination, fueled in large part by the restoration of the historic Art Deco hotels.

Carlton Hotels co-owners Simon Nemni, Brian Scheinblum and Michael Sabet sought designer Rogers Zwickel, whose previous projects have spanned the world. Zwickel’s image can be seen in every detail of the Carlton’s renovation – from the rich and fun lobby to the exciting guest bathrooms. General manager Jason Winberg has also been brought on board to assure that service is exemplary and that every guest has an amazing experience. Jason, a third generation hotelier, has worked and trained students at Johnson & Wales University and has developed a knack for working with current hotel technological trends.

“Carlton Hotel, South Beach is designed for fun with a chic attitude” Simon Nemni said. “We have mastered the art of offering a trendy atmosphere with design amenities at an economical price”.

Public Spaces

It all begins in the hotel's lobby – with Zwickel’s playful furnishings are set among a sea of terrazzo floors. Two white islands surround a streamlined stainless steel bar and reception desk. Energizing orange curtains set the tone to appeal to the young, hip, see-and-be-seen crowd looking to mingle. A Parisian style breakfast and an array of light cuisines for dinner are among some of the treats that are served at the hotel’s bar daily.

The hotels Olympic swimming pool is surrounded by lounge chairs in a lush tropical setting. It is the perfect spot to get a suntan or sip of one of the Carlton’s specialty drinks. A weekend house DJ keeps the pool and lounge area alive with music inspiration.

Guest Rooms

Guests pass through the active lobby into their serene guest residence. Most rooms offer a view or access to either the Carlton’s invigorating pool or the majesty of Collins Avenue. Designed to create the perfect stay, the Carlton’s 67 rooms are full of amenities including Essential Elements bath and body products and music piped in from the room’s CD player. Mattresses are wrapped in 300 thread count sheets and down comforters. Guests can shed their street clothes and indulge in one of the Carlton’s lightweight waffled robes, drop the blackout shades in their room and enjoy some R&R. Open the walk-in closet and you will find a mini refrigerator, safe, iron and ironing board, coffee maker with European coffee and hair dryer.
