Headfast Abstrax – makes light work of bibliographic content management

July 06, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
Improved bibliographic content management results in numerous benefits and advantages - greater productivity, better workflow management, enhanced content quality and timeliness to name just a few. Not to mention major time and cost saving benefits - high priorities for almost every organisation.

Headfast offers Abstrax as a system that can be run within an organisation’s own IT infrastructure or as a service accessed through the Internet. Either way, Abstrax provides a cost effective solution for managing bibliographic information and publishing it on paper, CD-ROM, DVD and the Internet. It is an invaluable tool for streamlining the complete production and dissemination process!

Mike Hyman, Managing Director of Headfast, comments: "We have used our extensive experience to evolve Abstrax from systems we have previously delivered. The result is a flexible and comprehensive system than provides a cost effective and easy to use solution for real-life content management needs. Abstrax is ideal for any organisation that maintains a significant bibliographic catalogue."

Abstrax provides powerful user-friendly input and editing facilities, including a wealth of indexing and quality control aids such as customisable templates, comprehensive data validation, spell checking and support for a hierarchical thesaurus. Existing data can be loaded into Abstrax to form a searchable and editable archive. Ongoing feeds of externally produced data from other publishers can also be accepted with the same high level of validation and quality control.

Abstrax offers a comprehensive range of options for publishing on the Internet, intranets, CD-ROM and DVD. Supplying data to online services and other bibliographic data users is straightforward. It even has its own powerful catalogue production module for generating printed abstract journals and catalogues in a matter of minutes. Of course the content can also be exported to other packages and services in a wide variety of formats.

Current users of Abstrax include the British Nursing Index and CERAM Research.
