BRIDGEWATER, N.J. —July 14, 2006— WebApps, Inc., a leading provider of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) that partners with Payroll Service Bureaus, Human Resource Outsourcing Firms, Professional Employer Organizations, and other service-related businesses, has embraced the SaaS business model wholeheartedly since 2001 and believes that On Demand services will become the trend in the near future based on recent economic developments.

Reports Tuesday from the Washington Post state that US stocks are down after concern for economists’ forecasts regarding corporate earnings. Several markets are also steadily losing steam, with sluggish numbers featured in housing, labor, and retail sales markets. Because of the lackluster performance of today’s economy, companies are beginning to look at business costs and investments in technological infrastructure in a much different way. Rather than spending huge fees upfront to license software, the trend is moving toward software available on a subscription basis, particularly in the area of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS).

Although a fairly recent development in the world of software, SaaS is gaining recognition for being a cost-effective, secure, and easy-to-maintain way to access the applications that are necessary to run a successful business. IDC found that in 2004, over $4.2 billion was spent on SaaS worldwide; customer spending in this area is expected to increase in the next five years at a 21% Compound Annual Growth Rate, reaching $10.7 billion in 2009. AMR Research also found that in a recent survey of 300+ companies, 17-23% of companies would prefer a SaaS purchase option to a client-installed option. Finally, AMI Partners, Inc. found that SaaS has experienced a 19% growth rate in the US from 2005-2006 so far.

WebApps has taken this knowledge of a growing inclination toward web-based applications and applied it to the Time & Labor Management solution offered to partners. The software offers a stronger balance between higher-level automation and ease of use, thereby delivering both back-office tools and end-user applications that streamline business processes and satisfy small, medium, and large organizations in a broad spectrum of work environments with a single software platform. Along with collecting time, users can input employee schedules, allocate to cost centers, apply pay rules, and assign pay periods. In addition to PC entry, a number of alternate external devices can be used to capture time, such as swipe readers, biometric devices, and PDA’s.

About SaaS
The SaaS model is predicated on a one-to-many or multi-client deployment, whereby an application is shared across customers. This centralized approach towards code management reduces implementation, training, and ongoing support time while minimizing business risk for service providers. End-users benefit from single-source accountability that typically leads to a successful software rollout at a lower total cost of ownership. Also commonly known as an On Demand model, customers pay for system usage based on a recurring subscription fee, as opposed to a large upfront licensing charge along with the yearly maintenance fees that client-installed options require.
