IP Cores, Inc. Announces Two CCM* Security IP Cores for IEEE 802.15.4 Designs

(PRLEAP.COM) Palo Alto, California, July 17, 2006 — IP Cores, Inc., today announced new silicon IP cores supporting the IEEE 802.15.4 standard. CCMZ cores enable System on Chip (SoC) vendors that want to implement the AES/CCM* cryptographic algorithm.

"Addition of ultracompact CCM* cores to our portfolio continues our tradition of providing the security IP cores to SoC vendors with the smallest available gate count," said Dmitri Varsanofiev, CTO of IP Cores. "Our IP customers will convert the small area requirements of our cores into lower power requirements of their chips."

CCM* Encryption Protects Data in IEEE 802.15.4 Networks
IEEE 802.15.4 is the low-power wireless standard that is used by ZigBee Alliance as a base of its ZigBee™ specification. The CCM* mode of the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is used in the wireless IEEE 802.15.4 standard to provide data security and authentication. Addressing the market demand for low-power crypto solution for the IEEE 802.15.4 SoC, IP Cores’ CCMZ1 and CCMZ2 implement the CCM* modes in a single core and support 128-bit encryption. Both cores feature the flow-through design, with CCMZ1 accepting the key data / nonce in the data path and CCMZ2 using dedicated input pins for this purpose.

CCMZ1 and CCMZ2 contribute to the IP Cores’ power-efficient portfolio of AES-based security IP cores. For more information about IP Cores’ product line, please visit www.ipcores.com.
