OVIEDO MARKETPLACE HOSTS BACK-TO-SCHOOL EVENT FOR TEENS

(Oviedo) – Oviedo Marketplace is hosting “The Scene” on Saturday, July 29th from 2:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., during the Florida tax-free week. “The Scene” is the official Oviedo Marketplace kickoff event of the back-to-school shopping season for the thousands of families who will be outfitting their tweens and teens during the Florida tax free week. The event will feature trends, styles, exhibitions and exciting interactive opportunities for participating shoppers, and will be hosted at over one hundred malls owned and managed by General Growth Properties.

The Florida tax free week SCENE event will be hosted near the Oviedo Marketplace Sears and kicks off with a fashion show at 2:00 p.m. with models featuring back-to-school trends from our retailers, Payless, Godiva, Rave, T-Mobile, University Surf & Skate, Merle Norman, BeDazzle, Dillard’s, Hot Topic, Charlotte Russe, F.Y.E., Mirage, Spencer’s and Sears. The event will close with another fashion show at 7:00 p.m. In addition, there will be various entertainment and demonstrations from local businesses featured on-stage throughout the day.

Highlighted at the Florida tax free week SCENE event will be the Oviedo Marketplace Merle Norman, who will be giving complimentary makeovers and beauty tips. Select Comfort will be there to give information on getting a better night’s rest and there will be an opportunity to win a trip to a resort. Stop by the Bath & Body Works booth to sample their new line and get product demonstrations. In addition, customers can bring in their jeans and t-shirts to embellish and design for free with the International Academy of Design and Technology. LA Fitness will also be featured at the event with a fitness assessment booth and a chance to win great prizes. They will also be performing a fitness demonstration. In conjunction with “The Scene”, Oviedo Marketplace along with over 100 General Growth Property malls across the country will participate in the “Jean Scene” contest. The contest kicks off on July 15th, 2006 and runs through September 30th, 2006. To enter, contestants must submit a photo wearing their favorite pair of jeans accompanied by a short caption – 20 words or less – describing what their jeans say about them. Local winners will receive six free pair of jeans from Aeropostale and will be entered in the grand prize drawing – an all-expense paid trip to New York City from CosmoGIRL! and a $500 gift card to spend at Aeropostale.
