The CJD Foundation has recently introduced a comprehensive medical education project aimed neurologists to elevate their awareness surrounding Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease. The impetus for this body of work was provided by family members and patients reporting problems obtaining a diagnosis for this rapid, 100% fatal brain disease. In many cases this difficulty was due to neurologists being unfamiliar with early signs and symptoms of the disease. The Foundation received funding and endorsement for this project from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as from family members whose loved ones died as the result of CJD. Dr Pierluigi Gambetti, a world renowned CJD expert, acted as advisor and executive director of the DVD.

The DVD incorporates lectures from leading CJD experts, interviews with families and comprehensive medical illustrations. It is being presented at Grand Rounds and medical schools around the country.
