Local Grocery Stores make Aisles of Smiles

The Aisles of Smiles month long event is part of the fundraising campaign leading up to the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Telethon, September 3 and 4. All proceeds from Aisles of Smiles will support MDA’s services and research programs as well as educate the community on over 40 neuromuscular diseases MDA currently fights.
Grocers mark selected items as “Smile Items.” When customers purchase “Smile Items,” a portion of the cost is donated to MDA. “Smile Items” can be purchased at any time between August 1 – 31.
“Aisles of Smiles allows people to help others in their community while they are completing the simple task of grocery shopping. It’s an easy way to positively affect the lives of those around you,” MDA Regional Field Representative Karen Abrahamson said.
MDA (www.mda.org) is the number one provider of neuromuscular research and relies almost entirely on private donations. MDA receives no funding from the United Way or the Federal Government. This voluntary health agency works to defeat more than 40 neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive services, and far-reaching professional and public health education. The largest fund-raiser for MDA is the Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon, September 3 – 4, check your local listing.
