Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series Announces Members of Class XXXI

July 21, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Twenty-five young executives have been selected to participate in Class XXXI of the Stanley K. Lacy (SKL) Executive Leadership Series. Each year, 25 emerging young leaders are selected from a pool of applicants to participate in this highly-competitive program that aims to expand the ranks of community leadership by providing class members with the knowledge and incentive to confront the needs of central Indiana.

Class members were selected on the basis of significant community involvement and professional achievement, demonstrated interest in community issues, a record of participation and achievement in voluntary community activities, and willingness to expand their leadership within the community.

“We congratulate these 25 young executives on being selected to participate in SKL. This program provides an excellent opportunity for these rising stars to focus their talents for improving our community for many years to come,” said Roland M. Dorson, Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce president and a graduate of SKL Class XIX. “We have come to expect SKL alumni to be highly involved in addressing issues and providing significant community leadership throughout their careers.”

The moderator for Class XXXI will be Mike Smith, former president and CEO of Mayflower; former executive vice president, chief financial officer and president of National Accounts at Anthem, Inc.; current treasurer for the Indianapolis Museum of Art; current chairman of the board of the Central Indiana Community Foundation; and member of many other local civic, business and non-profit boards.

“Mike brings a wealth of community experience and a history of extraordinary community leadership to SKL and we are honored to have him join us as this year’s moderator,” said Michael D. Moriarty, chairman of the SKL Advisory Council, graduate of SKL Class VIII and a partner at Locke Reynolds. “Mike will be an excellent role model for these young executives. With his vast experience, he’ll be able to share with class members his unique insight into the interconnectivity of our community’s needs and issues.”

Class XXXI will begin meeting in September and continue through next June, interacting with local leaders, professional experts and community decision makers to discuss issues ranging from quality of life to education to economic development.
