MDA SEEKS VOLUNTEERS FOR THE 2006 JERRY LEWIS MDA LABOR DAY TELETHON PLEDGE CENTER, SPONSORED BY QUEENS COLLEGE COMMITTEE FOR DISABLED STUDENTS

NASSAU/QUEENS/KINGS/BRONX COUNTIES, July 24, 2006 — The Muscular Dystrophy Association is seeking volunteers to answer phones and help out behind the scenes at this year's Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon, airing Sunday, September 3 and Monday, September 4. The satellite pledge center needing volunteers is sponsored by CUNY Queens College's Committee for Disabled Students.
The pledge center will be located at Queens College's Student Union. Interested volunteers should contact the local MDA office to pre-register in order to gain access to the pledge center on September 3 and 4. MDA and Queens College Committee for Disabled Students, with support from the Queens College Telephone Services Department, are coordinating the Telethon Pledge Center.
The Telethon raises funds to support MDA's programs of worldwide research, public health education, and services for people affected by any of more than 40 neuromuscular diseases. The Telethon will begin at 9:00 p.m. on September 3 and air for 21.5 hours. The national broadcast films in Las Vegas and cuts to frequest local segments.
