Deerfield Beach, FL – Pulse on America, a new cable television production of New Line Media Solutions, will present a special series of segments on the United Arab Emirates.

Formed in 1971, The United Arab Emirates is a constitutional federation of seven emirates or states, each with its own unique character and personality but yet united with a common goal and destiny. The seven emirates are: Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al-Qaiwain, Ras Al-Khaimah, and Fujairah. The official language of the UAE is Arabic. Other languages spoken are English, Hindi, Farsi. The U.A.E. has approximately 2.95 million people from all over the Arab world, Asia, Europe, Africa and America. Approximately 80% of the population is non-UAE nationals. The religion that the majority of the population has is Islam but Christianity, Hinduism, etc. are also found. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) occupies an area of 83,000 sq km along the southeastern tip of the Arabian Peninsula. Qatar lies to the west, Saudi Arabia to the south and west, and Oman to the north and east. The capital and the largest city of the federation, Abu Dhabi, is located in the emirate of the same name.

While many visitors expect to see only desert and camels, cities like Dubai are in fact ultramodern, with skyscrapers and modern architecture. They are clean, safe, and ultimately dynamic—a shrine to the ebb and flow of capitalism at its best. Very little which is obsolete remains and markets here tend to sell gold and electronics rather than more traditional goods. In recent times, the desert sand has been replaced with greenery and architecturally magnificent buildings and mosques. Unfortunately, many people still have misconceptions about the UAE and think that it is as it was 20 or 30 years ago.

However, four-fifths of the UAE does consist of desert. Yet it is a country of contrasting landscapes, from awe-inspiring dunes to rich oases, precipitous rocky mountains to fertile plains. It occupies a total of about 32,400 sq. miles.

The United Arab Emirates has become one of the world's fastest growing tourist destinations because it has all the right ingredients for an unforgettable holiday: sun, sand, sea, sports, unbeatable shopping, top-class hotels and restaurants, an intriguing traditional culture, and a safe and welcoming environment. There are cities with skyscrapers…a sophisticated network of highways criss-crossing the country… cars zooming about…tree- lined boulevards…magnificent shopping malls…fun parks…a communication network that would be the envy of any country….and all lie side by side with the silent desert, wind towers and camels. If ever there was an ode to progress, the United Arab Emirates would be it.

Dubai, the most sophisticated area, offers much to tourists, in addition to ultramodern hotels and fine restaurants—for example, the World Cup (horse racing), a Dubai Shopping Festival, an international airport, tennis championships and the golf Desert Classic.
