Edinburgh Festival 2006 Sees Demand for Edinburgh Hotels Increase at LateRooms

Whilst Edinburgh is most famous for its Tattoo (4th-26th August), Fringe Festival (6th-28th August) and International Festival (13th August to 3rd September), the season officially kicks off on July 28th with the Starbucks Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival.

The festivals offer something for virtually everyone. Highlights this year are expected to include comedian Bill Bailey, Ben Elton – the Musical (Not endorsed by or featuring Ben Elton) and the spectacular End of Festival Fireworks Concert which this year takes place on September 3rd.

The Edinburgh Festival attracts over 800,000 visitors from all over the world and accommodation is notoriously much more expensive and hard to find at this time. LateRooms (http://www.laterooms.com) has already seen average price increases amongst its Edinburgh hotels of £25.00 per room. The hotel industry’s late availability database advises travellers to make their travel arrangements as early as possible.

“LateRooms has already seen a 50% increase in bookings in Edinburgh for August and this trend is set to continue” says Head of Marketing Andrew Pumphrey.

“The 4 star rated Harbour Apartments are offering great midweek prices from £120.00 for a double/twin apartment and are located only 15 minutes from central Edinburgh while the 3 star rated Old Waverley Classic Hotel is offering double rooms from just £130.00 including breakfast”.

For the ‘inside track’ on finding a bargain, LateRooms suggest festival goers consider staying at hotels in Glasgow, which is just 50 minutes from Edinburgh via an express train service.

“LateRooms.com currently have some great deals on hotels in central Glasgow such as the 4 star Artto Hotel which is offering double rooms from £49.00” adds Mr. Pumphrey.
