Royal College of Nursing Selects Webcredible for Website Usability First Aid

July 30, 2006 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
– The Royal College of Nursing, the largest professional union for nursing in the UK, has turned to leading usability and accessibility company, Webcredible, for usability testing and consultancy on its website www.rcn.org.uk to ensure that it is delivering the best possible online service to its 380,000 members of nurses and healthcare assistants.

To help the Royal College of Nursing to improve its website and ensure members can find the information they require as easily as possible, Webcredible will conduct a series of rigorous usability tests at the end of July, focusing on two of the organisation’s microsites: Mental Health Zone and Children & Young People. To ensure that the testing is as true to life as possible, the Royal College of Nursing has enlisted ten nurses who will complete a comprehensive set of activities and searches to identify the issues that currently impede user tasks on the site.

“Our website is the first port of call for our members who require advice, training, information or support,” explained Sonia Shepherd, content manager, Royal College of Nursing. “We are committed to promoting nursing excellence on behalf of our members and as such we have a responsibility to ensure we are providing our nurses with the best possible online resource. Webcredible has a strong track record of providing straight forward usability consultancy at a competitive rate and we are looking forward to their advice on how we can optimise the content and navigation of our site.”

“For organisations that want to deliver an exceptional user experience via their website, it is critical they have a real understanding of how people use their website,” said Trenton Moss, director, Webcredible. “Royal College of Nursing has recognised that this is just as important for membership organisations as it is for commercial websites, and by undertaking usability testing and acting on our recommendations its members will benefit from even greater support.”
