9/11 Novel: From World Trade Center to Nuclear Holocaust

Five years ago, Sheldon Filger was residing in New York City when Al-Qaeda crashed airliners into the World Trade Center, destroying the iconic Twin Towers, thousands of lives and America's illusion of safety from the scourge of global terrorism. As the world marks the fifth anniversary of the horrific day that was September 11, 2001, Mr. Filger has written a terrorism thriller that explores a far more frightening follow-up to 9/11 by Al-Qaeda: nuclear terrorism. His novel, "King of Bombs," is a suspenseful, terrifying exploration into a terrorism scenario that is both frightening yet convincingly plausible.

"Many experts who have studied Al-Qaeda and the threat of nuclear terrorism have concluded that the danger is real, and unfortunately growing," Sheldon Filger said. "In my novel, I have looked at all the danger points that experts have speculated on, than tied the dots together that could form the outline for Al-Qaeda's next attack on America, unless the public and its elected representatives take the threat far more seriously, before it's too late," he added.

In Filger's post-9/11 terrorism thriller, Al-Qaeda obtains the plans for the world's most powerful nuclear bomb, a weapon which could conceivably devastate half of the United States through blast damage and vast radioactive contamination. With covert help from Iran, North Korea and the enigmatic nuclear weapons black market, Osama bin Ladin's followers plan to smuggle the weapon into the U.S. and detonate it in New York City. Filger's terrorism thriller is chilling in the extreme. As a novel about nuclear terrorism, "King of Bombs" not only explores new territory in the genre of techno-thrillers and terrorism books and novels; it may prove to be a sobering glimpse of what could be tomorrow's headlines.
