Ad Blog Beats Odds, Celebrates Second Year

SAN DIEGO, CA – Most blogs last only a few months, but John Kuraoka’s Ad Blog has been running steadily for two years this February. That makes it a rare survivor among blogs.

Kuraoka is a San Diego-based freelance advertising copywriter. His Ad Blog focuses on the creative side of advertising, although entries often extend into other areas of marketing and branding, with the occasional foray into social commentary.

“I’m a writer; I can’t not write,” Kuraoka says. “I’ve been updating my family’s online journal at least once a week since 1998 – and seven years ago, I’d never even heard of blogging even though I was doing it.”

So, after two years of professional blogging, is he afraid of running out of things to say?

“Not at all,” he says. “As long as there’s something going on in the world of advertising, there’s something to learn from and respond to.

“And, this is a great time to be in advertising. We’re seeing huge changes in consumer behavior, in advertiser behavior, in media. We’re in the midst of a revolution in advertising and marketing. It’s all exciting.”
