'Premio lo Nuestro 2004' to Air Live on Univision February 26 Honoring Latin Music's Biggest Stars

MIAMI, FL — The red carpet is ready to roll as the Univision Network prepares for the 2004 edition of "Premio Lo Nuestro a la Música Latina," the most prestigious and popular Latin music awards show in the U.S. Hosted by funnyman Adal Ramones, this year's ceremony will be telecast LIVE from the Miami Arena on Thursday, February 26, 8-11 pm ET/PT (7-10 pm Central/Mountain).

Among the celebrated recording artists scheduled to perform during the gala event are: international megastar Ricky Martin, who will also be presented the prestigious "Premio a la Excelencia" lifetime achievement award; Thalía, best-selling recording artist and novela superstar; Ricardo Arjona, renowned songwriter/singer whose poignant and poetic lyrics have won the hearts of millions of fans throughout the Spanish-speaking world; Marco Antonio Solís, recognized as the creator of the regional Mexican "banda" sound, and one of the best-selling artists in the history of the genre; the chart-topping "Princess of Salsa," India; the duo sensation Sin Bandera, known for their melodious romantic ballads; and, directly from Spain, pop/rock music group La Oreja de Van Gogh, which has recently taken the U.S. by storm after achieving superstar status in Europe and Latin America. Other performers include Montez de Durango, Victor Manuelle, Akwid, Intocables, and El General.

This year's presenters, featuring a veritable "who's who" of the biggest names in Latin music and Spanish-language television, include: A.B. Quintanilla, Rosalyn Sánchez, Julio Iglesias Jr., Conjunto Primavera, Banda El Recodo, Jennifer Peña, Ninel Conde, Graciela Beltrán, Millie Corretjer, Giselle Blondet, Mariana Seaone, Niurka Marcos, Aracely Arámbula, Patricia Velázquez, Marlene Favela, Ricardo Alamo, and Eugenio Derbez.

The evening's winners will be chosen from the music genres of Pop, Tropical, Regional Mexican, Rock and Urban. Nominated artists were selected from charts compiled by the prominent industry publication Radio & Records(R). All awards will be determined by the voting public via http://www.univision.com. The nominee list includes Ricky Martin and Ricardo Arjona, with four nominations each; India, Marc Anthony, Marco Antonio Solís, Conjunto Primavera, Olga Tañón and Joan Sebastian with three nominations each; Thalía with two nominations; and Juanes, Alexandre Pires, Maná, Pepe Aguilar, Vicente Fernández, and many more.

Prior to the awards ceremony, Univision will air the "Red Carpet" portion of the show, from 7 to 8 pm ET (6-7 pm Central/Mountain) as a LIVE Primer Impacto special titled "Noche de Estrellas" (Night of Stars).

"Premio Lo Nuestro" is the highest-rated television program among Hispanics in the United States. In 2003, it had an audience of more than 5 million Hispanic viewers, beating all other English or Spanish language TV programs including the Super Bowl. It was watched by at least 3.5 million more Hispanics than Telemundo's "Billboard Latin Music Awards" or CBS's "Latin Grammy Awards."
