(PRLEAP.COM) Rowe Hankins, Stand 219-H, Hall 5.2 – InnoTrans 2006, Berlin Sep 19-22At InnoTrans 2006, rail systems engineering specialist, Rowe Hankins, is showcasing new AC Earth leakage detectors to improve safety and reliability alongside their reliable, service proven systems for accurate, long-life speed and direction monitoring.
The new AC Earth Leakage Detector is a first for InnoTrans. Compact in size the unit monitors electrical cable insulation and will give early warning of Earth loop faults allowing timely preventative maintenance to avoid unreliability and the possibility of fire.
Worldwide Rowe Hankins has installed over 120,000 Hall-effect speed monitoring devices, as either original equipment or retro-fitted to trains or light rapid-transit vehicles. A New speed probe, designated I-Mag Tacho Unit, and pulse generator, the Mag-T-su, offer reliable maintenance-free speed sensing. They have no optical components or contact parts and are exceptionally tolerant of extreme temperature variation, shock, vibration and dust/grease contamination found in all kinds of running stock.
Mag-T-su units comprise two principal components, a magnetic target, which is fitted to the axle end (Type AX) or motor shaft (type MS) and a cover. Both target and cover have in-built magnets to create the push-pull pulses as the magnetic fluxes alternate polarity with movement. The accuracy of speed measurement achieved depends on the number of magnets and sensors incorporated. Most applications require two sensors so that both speed and direction can be monitored.
The I-Mag Tacho Unit uses a mechanical toothed target attached to the gearbox axle in combination with one or more sealed Hall-effect sensors. A high level of speed and positional accuracy is assured because this can measure up to 110 pulses per revolution. Units can be packaged in a wide variety of housings and customised to meet user needs.
Technical specialists will be available on the Rowe Hankins stand throughout the show. More product information can be found at www.rowehankins.com. InnoTrans 2006 details and show tickets can be found at www1.messe-berlin.de/vip8_1/website/MesseBerlin/htdocs/www.innotrans.de/index_e.html.
