(Los Angeles, CA) Before these barbecue summer days end, SAGES, or the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, has released for public sale “Cutting Edge Recipes,” an all-purpose cookbook compiled from the favorite recipes of some of the top surgeons and medical industry leaders in the country.

“Cutting Edge Recipes,” available for $30 each, contains a broad spectrum of recipes that will help even the most harried home cooks dish out a four-course meal. From decadent appetizers like shrimp remoulade to health-conscious vegetarian sides that include cranberry chutney, there is a recipe for any foodie in this cookbook. Readers will also find the occasional humorous note or photo of the contributing doctors/chefs alongside their recipes.

Begun as a collaborated creation among the food-loving members of SAGES to promote better cooking and better patient care, $20 from every sale of “Cutting Edge Recipes” will go to benefit the SAGES Education and Research Foundation, a nonprofit organization that advances laparoscopic, endoscopic, and other minimal access surgical methods by supporting reproducible scientific research and outcome studies, graduate and post-residency education, and public outreach.

The Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) represents a worldwide community of surgeons that can bring minimal access surgery, endoscopy, and emerging techniques to patients in every country. SAGES provides its members with continuing education and training and supplies patients with accurate, up-to-date medical information. Incorporated in 1981, SAGES was the first to issue the Surgical Residency Guidelines for Endoscopy, the entity that undertook the governance of training in laparoscopy, and the innovator that issued the “Framework for Post-Residency Training,” which now serves as the template for American Medical Association Guidelines in training and credentialing.

To purchase a copy of “Cutting Edge Recipes,” order online at www.sagesfoundation.org or call the SAGES Education and Research Foundation at SAGES Foundation, 11300 W. Olympic Boulevard, Ste. 600, Los Angeles, CA, 90064, (310) 437-0555.
