Local Author Featured in Debut Issue of New Mystery/Suspense Magazine
St. Joseph, MO—August, 2006—A new short-story magazine is storming onto the mystery/suspense scene! Drawing on the talent of mystery and suspense writers around the country and internationally, Vicki Lipira, managing editor, and her husband, Michael, co-publisher of Great Mystery and Suspense Magazine, have packed this new magazine with short stories to quench the mystery lover’s thirst for the sinister and appease the appetite of the suspense seeker.
The poetry of local author, Stephen Rogers of Buzzards Bay, was chosen to appear in the premiere issue (Summer 2006) of Great Mystery and Suspense Magazine, a quarterly periodical of wholesome distinction, offering whodunits, romantic suspense, detective, cozy, humor, and more. Rogers has published over 300 stories and poems in over 100 publications.
Vicki says, “We promise to give the readers well-written tales of suspense that will delight their inner longing for the mysterious, yet leave their morals intact.” The Lipiras invite readers to curl up in their favorite chair to savor a cozy mystery, a puzzling whodunit, or a romantic suspense story, yet they’ve kept in mind the modern day fast-paced world and have compiled stories short enough to enjoy in the time it takes to sip a cup of your favorite beverage.
Vicki Lipira, a mystery lover since she could read, wrote her first mystery in the third grade. After eighteen years in the publishing industry as a published freelance writer and a busy book editor, she determined to use her editing skills to master her zeal and follow her passion exclusively into the world of mystery and suspense. “Some people ride roller coasters to get their thrills. Nothing makes my heart pound faster than an edge-of-your-seat story of suspense!” Vicki says.
Her husband, Michael, is the inspiration to keep going, to never give up. He’s always placed Vicki’s desires before his own, encourages her to “always believe,” and does a great job of keeping her on track. As the technical director behind the scenes, Michael takes care of the practical side of business.
Samples of the type of stories in Great Mystery and Suspense Magazine are available for free on the magazine’s website: www.greatmysteryandsuspense.com. A sample copy of the magazine ($5) or a yearly subscription ($20) can be ordered on the website or by calling toll-free 1.866.816.4546.
