[Raleigh, NC] – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference announced today that ticket books for the 2007 MEAC Basketball Tournament will go on sale September 1. Prices for the books remain unchanged from 2006, with adults paying $100 per book, while children, students and senior citizens’ books cost just $50.

Each book provides one ticket for each session of the tournament, with men’s and women’s games being played over five days. The first game tips off on Tuesday, March 6, and the championship games are played on Saturday, March 10.
“More people than ever before attended last year’s tournament, which got us off to a fast start in our new home in Raleigh,” said Dr. Dennis Thomas, MEAC Commissioner. “We want to keep that strong value proposition, with affordably priced tickets, great basketball and a strong roster of other great events throughout the week.”

Last year’s event, the first in Raleigh, was a success, with attendance growing 50% over the prior year’s tournament. More than 22,500 people attended the tournament games, with additional attendance at related events such as the Tom Joyner Sky Show, High School Day, Comedy Show, Fashion Show and much more.

Ticket books go on sale September 1 at www.meachoops.com, the official website of the 2007 Basketball Tournament. Tickets will also be available through Ticketmaster outlets nationwide, at MEAC School Box Offices and at the RBC Center Box Office. Sales of individual game tickets will not begin until February 26, 2007.
