Premiere Beauty, Kansas City, Hosts Cut-a-Thon to Raise Funds for Breast Cancer 3 Day Walk

Kansas City, MO: Premiere Beauty announced today that they will host a cut-a-thon on Sunday August 27, 2006 to raise funds for stylist Scott Schaeffer, who will participate in the Kansas City Breast Cancer 3-Day benefiting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the National Philanthropic Trust. The participants will walk 60 miles during three days to raise breast cancer awareness and to raise money for critical research and community outreach programs.

In order to participate, each walker must train for the event and must commit to raising a minimum of $2,200. To raise funds for the walk, Scott and his co-workers at Premiere Beauty will trim, cut and blow-dry their way to Scott’s fundraising goal on Sunday August 27, 2006 from 12PM – 6PM at the salon’s Metcalf location (9296 Metcalf Overland Park 66212). All funds raised from the event will go towards Scott’s participation in the Breast Cancer 3 Day walk. Clients may call the salon to set up their appointment and the suggested donation is $30.

The Breast Cancer 3-Day in Kansas City will start on Friday morning, September 15, 2006 and end with Closing Ceremonies on Sunday afternoon, September 17th. Thousands of walkers will cover about 20 miles a day, traveling at their own pace. The walkers will be supported by hundreds of volunteer crew members who will provide meals, water and snack stops, gear transport, hot showers, portable restrooms, safety on the streets and comprehensive medical services.

“I’ve been doing hair for over 20 years and saw this chance to use my good health for a good cause. I’ve had several clients and women in my life who have been affected by the disease,” said Scott. “I initiated the cut-a-thon because I wanted to do something bold to help fight the disease and raise awareness – and what better way than to set a goal to accomplish something as challenging as the 3-Day. I look forward to making my way through the streets of Kansas City with thousands of others as we raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer.”
