BACKLOT FILM FESTIVAL MOVES DATES
NOW WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 31 THROUGH SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 2007
AND ANNOUNCES VETERAN FILMMAKER BUDD SCHULBERG AS INCE AWARD HONOREE.

Culver City, Ca…The Backlot Film Festival is moving its dates to Wednesday, January 31st through Sunday, February 4th, 2007. The previously announced dates were September 13 through September 17, 2006.

The new screening schedule will be held exclusively at THE FINE ARTS THEATRE, located 8556 Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills, California. The awards ceremony will be held at Veteran’s Auditorium located at 4177 Overland Avenue in Culver City, California. Awards for Best Feature, Best Documentary, Best Short and Best ‘Midnight Madness” cult film will be presented, along with the Thomas Ince Award, named for the pioneer producer of early filmmaking, going to legendary writer/producer Budd Schulberg.

Mr. Schulberg has written has written and produced such classic films as ON THE WATERFRONT starring Marlon Brando, Karl Malden and Eva Marie Saint, A FACE IN THE CROWD with Andy Griffith and Patricia Neal, Humphrey Bogart’s last feature THE HARDER THEY FALL, WIND ACROSS THE EVERGLADES with Christopher Plummer and Burl Ives and the documentary JOE LOUIS-FOR ALL TIMES.

Schulberg’ book WHAT MAKES SAMMY RUN?, skewered Hollywood moguls and made its hero ‘Sammy Glick’ a character for the ages. He has also written an autobiography MOVING PICTURES, MEMORIES OF A HOLLYWOOD PRINCE and LOSER AND STILL CHAMPION-MUHAMMAD ALI. During the festival he will be on hand to sign copies of his current book RINGSIDE.

Another integral part of the festival is “The Other Hollywood” which pays homage to films that were shot in the areas of Culver City, West Los Angeles, and the tri-city beach areas. This year’s selections include the rarely seen CISCO PIKE with Kris Kristofferson and Gene Hackman and THE LOVED ONES directed by Tony Richardson, starring Robert Morse, Anjanette Comer and Rod Steiger.

Additionally The Backlot Film Festival is extending its call for entries in all genres to November 20, 2006.
