Professional organizer and residential efficiency authority Dana Berlin is one of the prominent speakers to be featured at the Fourth Annual Fall Home & Garden Show at The Woodlands. The event takes place on Saturday and Sunday, September 16-17, at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center.

Berlin, an expert in residential organizing and owner of the Houston-based consulting firm Simply Organized, will present “Five Simple Organizing Principles to Live Clutter-Free For Life.” Her step-by-step presentation identifies the causes of clutter, how to break the habit, and methods for transforming a home into an organized haven of relaxation.

“Reducing home clutter does more than simplify your life,” she said. “It adds value to a home.” Berlin has helped many owners and Realtors enhance the look and visual appeal of homes being put on the market.

“Downsizing can be physically and emotionally draining for anyone, especially seniors,” Berlin said. “From the smallest drawer to the largest room, we provide organizing tools and techniques that make the process easier.”

For Berlin, closet organizers and storage units are helpful, but rarely the ultimate solution. “People tend to accumulate and keep items that are no longer useful to them,” she said. “Knowing what to keep, what to store and what to discard is an important part of the process.”

Berlin said the biggest obstacle to organization for most people is knowing where to begin. “Many homeowners are overwhelmed by the prospect of getting started. This session focuses on easy, non-stressful ways to begin the process.”

An experienced social worker, Berlin developed her initial skills helping seniors and the elderly downsize and make lifestyle changes. As her reputation grew, she was asked to assist with a wider variety of home organizational needs.

Berlin, a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers, will be introducing her first instructional booklet at the Fourth Annual Fall Home & Garden Show at the Woodlands. The nominally priced pamphlet, “A Clutter Free Life,” contains her innovative step-by-step approach to home organization.

Seminar attendees will also have an opportunity to register for a free “In-home Organizing Workshop.” The winner will be able to invite five friends over a free in-home evaluation and consultation by Berlin.

The Fourth Annual Fall Home & Garden Show at The Woodlands features over 200 exhibitors primarily from the Suburban North Houston area – all specializing in products and services for homeowners. The increasingly popular event showcases the latest technology and design expertise for updating and enhancing an existing residence or building a new home.
