Medical help needed for Pudsey Bear

(PRLEAP.COM) The Academy 24/7 snooker/pool hall & live music venue in Basingstoke, England, is hosting a number of fundraising marathons & world record attempts to raise money for BBC Children In Need in November this year.

The Academy has already agreed to host DJ Danny D attempting to set a new world record for the longest live DJ performance in a nightclub. Danny’s record is currently 100 hours, which is currently being challenged in Australia, so he is seeking to set a new one of 120 hours. He will play music and entertain customers continuously for the 120 hours with 15 minute breaks every eight hours.

Andy Kyricaou, lead singer with 80’s pop legends, Modern Romance, whose songs (such as Everybody Salsa and Best Years of our Lives – featured in Shrek The Movie) are still popular in the nightclubs today, will seek to set a new world record for drumming. The current record is 84 hours continuously drumming and Andy will try for 100 hours.

In addition, the Academy is planning a series of snooker and pool marathons during the week, with celebrity guests popping in to support the fundraisers. Local teams or individuals are also welcome to support these events.

Further details will be published on a special website www.worldrecordattempt.co.uk courtesy of Headline Promotions, Press & PR.

Guinness World Records have accepted the DJ and drumming record attempts but have stipulated that medical support needs to be available at all times. That’s 120 hours, day and night. Volunteers are sought who have medical or nursing qualifications and who can attend to assist the record breakers in the event of a medical emergency. They can only work in shifts of 4 hours maximum.

Full details are available on the Academy website (www.academyclubs.com).

If you can spare a few hours to help raise money for Pudsey Bear, please telephone Orlando, General Manager of the snooker, pool & live music venue on 01256 327273.
