Duluth, GA, United States– National laboratory group, Microbac Laboratories Inc., and MVA Scientific Consultants have announced a Strategic Alliance at the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) 2006 Conference and Food Expo in Orlando. IFT is the premiere international forum for food industry professionals to share, explore, and connect.

As part of the alliance, Microbac will serve as MVA Scientific Consultants’ Preferred Provider of microbiological and chemical analysis for food, environmental and other samples. MVA Scientific Consultants will serve as Microbac’s Preferred Provider of Forensic Food Microscopy and other microanalytical services. Microscopy is the practice of utilizing powerful microscopes to study objects too small to see with the unaided eye. Microscopy is considered to be one of the most powerful tools for studying unknown materials, particles and contaminants in the environment and in products like food.

“Environmental concerns, legal and regulatory issues, increased product quality, packaging and customer expectations are just some of the challenges facing the Food & Beverage industry”, says Richard S. Brown, Executive Director at MVA Scientific Consultants. “Our alliance with Microbac offers a compelling menu of solutions to help meet some of these challenges,” Brown said.

Jonathan D. Wheeler, Lab Director for Microbac’s SC Division was designated as Alliance Liaison between the two companies during the announcement. “It’s an honor to be serving as the point person on the Microbac side of this alliance and I looking forward to working with our lab directors and MVA Scientific Consultants when client issues warrant additional expertise”, said Wheeler.

Atlanta-based MVA Scientific Consultants is no stranger to strategic relationships and has forged a number of similar partnerships with companies such as international particle science specialists Micromeritics and the United Kingdoms’ Micro Materials Ltd., who last year, designated MVA Scientific Consultants as it’s official North American Demonstration & Support Site for the Nano-Test—a new instrument used for characterizing materials at the nano-scale level.

“Microbac and MVA Scientific Consultants both recognize that scientific leadership is about vision, innovation, and a commitment to excellence”, says Marketer Anthony M. Cooper, who helped to broker the deal. “This alliance further solidifies the leadership positions of both companies,” Cooper concluded.
