Onestopcontactlenses.co.uk Challenges US Contact Lens Research

Onestopcontactlenses.co.uk has been asked to comment on the results of a recent US contact lens study which concluded that children aged eight and over could handle the responsibility of wearing lenses.

According to the report, contrary to the advice generally given by optometrists, contact lenses could be worn by children under the age of twelve. It claimed that the children who took part in the investigation did not need to rely on their parents to put their lenses in for them and take them out again.

Onestopcontactlenses.co.uk (the UK’s largest independent contact lens retailer) has certain concerns about the conclusion reached by the American researchers.

As a spokesperson for the company explains:

"Wearing contact lenses is not just about being able to put them in and take them out easily. It is also important to look after them properly and observe correct hand and nail hygiene. Failure to do so can cause eye infections which can produce redness, discomfort and blurred vision."

Although it is true that certain types of contact lenses, such as daily disposables, are easier to look after than others, the issue of care and hygiene is always important.
